What operations are available?
General Surgeons are comprehensively trained and provide a wide range of operations, also known as procedures and occasionally “surgeries”.

I offer a subset of my operations in private hospitals, with the most common listed below.
Ask Janelle if I offer something that is not listed here.

Removal of the gallbladder
Removing the gallbladder with keyhole surgery (laparoscopic) is done for gallstones, and pain from a diseased gallbladder. Recovery is usually fast — within two weeks — with major complications rare. Diet can be largely normal afterwards.

(gall bladder)

Removal of haemorrhoids and tags
Bums are embarrassing! There are a lot of easily-fixable perianal conditions that people put up with, including haemorrhoids (bleeding), lumps (anal skin tags), and fissures (pain).

Matt will sensitively assess your problem and offer solutions that usually improve things.

Lymph node biopsy
Lymph glands or nodes can become enlarged for many reasons. Fine needle biopsy is usually done first, but occasionally an entire node needs to be removed for diagnosis, or many glands in a nodal basin need to be excised for treatment.

I work closely with haematologists and other specialists to facilitate this option.

Repair of ingrown toenails
Usually encountered in the teens and early 20s, this can be a debilitating problem that I can improve.

(It's usually best to have seen a podiatrist first).
Other procedures I perform
Treatment of pilonidal sinus. Appendicectomy. Resection of soft-tissue tumours. Removal of small bowel tumours.
